Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center Announces Young Driver Safety Tips

Denver dent repair and full service collision repair center Prestige Imports announces safety driving tips to help keep new drivers safe on the road.

Denver, Colorado, February 15, 2010 - Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center today released a public service announcement on safe driving practices for recently licensed and younger drivers. Newly licensed drivers are statistically at greatest risk of being involved in an accident within the first two years after receiving their licenses. Tips to reduce that risk include:

1) Stick to roads and highways that are familiar. Despite passing the required tests young drivers are still inexperienced compared to other drivers on the road. In the process of gaining confidence and driving experience it may be helpful to remain geographically within the comfort zone of known routes.

2) Maintain awareness. Drivers obtain their licenses by learning the rules of the road and demonstrating their knowledge of them. This requires maintaining strict attention to new-found skills. Obtaining a license should not result in relaxing standards.

3) Drive within your limits. Drive in a manner that’s consistent with the ability of the driver and the conditions of the road. Other drivers, particularly those that have more experience, are not necessarily the standard of behavior that newer drivers should emulate. Be aware and drive within personal comfort boundaries.

4) When transporting passengers, particularly younger ones, resist the temptation of peer pressure to engage in driving behaviors known to be unsafe. If a passenger becomes unruly or disruptive or in any way engages in distracting, unsafe behavior, one option is to drop them off at the nearest safe location such as a bus stop. In the future avoid inviting them into your car.

5) Give aggressive drivers extra distance and if possible avoid contact with them on the highway. Aggressive or competitive tendencies when driving can quickly lead to safety risks.

6) Consider taking advanced driving safety courses. Advanced drivers training courses that go beyond the minimum requirements for obtaining a license can provide additional experience and help establish skills to help protect young drivers from making bad driving decisions due to a lack of experience.

The Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center is open Monday through Saturday. Additional information about services is available at the company’s website at www.denver-auto-body.com.
