Leather is often a featured material used in the interiors of modern automobiles. As a service to our clients we include tips below concerning automobile leather care and maintenance.
TYPES OF INTERIOR AUTO LEATHER
Leather can be used in numerous places in a modern vehicle’s interior. This is especially true for luxury automobile brands such as Audi, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Acura and others. Leather of course is used on seats, but also on door panels and other areas including the dashboard. In some instances leathers may be coated with a protective material. Car owners can test leather areas of the interior by applying a few drops of cool clean water to the surface of the leather. If the water is quickly absorbed then the leather likely has no coating. If water beads or is repelled then a coating is probably present.
LEATHER CARE PRODUCTS
Unless proper care and attention is given to leather it can eventually lose its luster and may even crack in time as it becomes less flexible. First cleaning and then conditioning the leather can prevent this and help ensure that leather lasts for the functional life of the vehicle. When applying a leather cleaner to remove dirt or other substances be sure to apply it initially on an inconspicuous area to test it before using it all over. Subsequently moisturizing the leather interior with a conditioner is often recommended. Conditioners will help prevent leather interiors from cracking. Some automobile manufacturers may recommend spraying a leather protectant product on the interior in addition.
FREQUENCY OF CARE
How often attention to leather interiors is required depends to some degree on the use your vehicle receives and other owner specific factors. In general most car owners will benefit by cleaning and conditioning leather interiors at least twice a year. The driver’s seat which receives the most use and wear will typically need the highest level of attention.
PREVENTATIVE CARE
The sun and its associated heat can adversely affect leather interiors. When the option exists to park in the shade or apply protective window covering devices it’s recommended. Leather ages faster at higher temperatures so keeping the interior cooler can help reduce normal deterioration.

About Denver
The City and County of Denver is the capital and the most populous city of the state of Colorado, in the United States. Denver is a consolidated city-county located in the South Platte River Valley on the High Plains just east of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Denver downtown district is located immediately east of the confluence of Cherry Creek with the South Platte River, approximately 15 miles (24 km) east of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Denver is nicknamed the Mile-High City because its official elevation is exactly one mile, or 5,280 feet (1,609 m) above sea level. The 105th meridian west of Greenwich passes through Union Station, making it the reference point for the Mountain Time Zone. The city of Denver's area is much smaller than that of Colorado's second most populous city, Colorado Springs.
The United States Census Bureau estimated that the population of Denver was 598,707 in 2008, making it the 24th most populous U.S. city. The 10-county Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area had an estimated 2008 population of 2,706,947 and ranked as the 21st most populous U.S. metropolitan statistical area and the 12-county Denver-Aurora-Boulder Combined Statistical Area had an estimated 2008 population of 3,049,562 and ranked as the 16th most populous U.S. metropolitan area.
