Prestige Imports Releases Auto Warranty Public Service Announcement

Established auto body shop in Denver releases new public service announcement summarizing automobile warranties to inform consumers on auto warranty types and their purpose.

Denver, Colorado, December 17, 2009 - Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center today released a public service announcement on the topic of automobile warranties, their structure, and what they cover. As a company whose business centers on automobiles, Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center maintains an active interest in all aspects of car ownership and participates in educating its customers on issues that impact their ownership.

According to automobile industry resource Edmunds.com, all new vehicles sold in the US have at least two auto warranties, sometimes also including roadside assistance coverage. The most basic automobile warranty covers most if not all items with the exception of those subject to wear and tear. Items not covered include oil filters, wiper blades, and things of a similar nature. The federal government mandates that emissions components be covered for two years or 24,000 miles at a minimum, and some items may be covered much longer. Tires and batteries are among items that often have their own separate warranty coverage. These are typically outlined in the owner’s manual.

Drivetrain warranties are another commonly referred to category. Drivetrain warranties essentially cover the parts that make the vehicle move. Included in this category is the car’s engine, transmission, drive axles and driveshaft. The specifics of a vehicle’s drivetrain warranty will usually be described in the owner’s manual. Typically parts subject to wear and tear like hoses and belts may not be covered, however, other internal parts of the engine, such as pistons and bearings are covered.

Rust/corrosion and roadside assistance warranty coverage round out the other major warranty categories. A rust or corrosion warranty protects car owners from rust-through problems. Preventative care for the car can help minimize occurrences. Roadside assistance is a type of warranty coverage that manufacturers can provide in the event of being stranded. An owner’s manual or automobile dealership can provide additional information about these services.

The Prestige Imports Collision Repair Center is open Monday through Saturday. Additional information about services is available at the company’s website at www.denver-auto-body.com.
